Hamelin renegs

The pied piper caught his shadow moping in the mirror
"I'm sorry, man. It wasn't all a dream.
We took them all and led them straight down into the river.
What God will have us now?
No God will have us now."

"They were so meek and willing,
a chorus' silent screaming,
we played and played
until the last were gone
Have they seen what we've done?
They must know what we've done."

"Were our profession one of long and noble history,
We'd have recourse under a verbal contract.
As it stands,
they tied our hands.
We can't subsist upon a diet of rats
And no, no God will have us now.
No, no God will have us now."

They were so putrid, sneering
A hive of stuck great villainy
how could they not miss a chance to ride free
As it stands,
Our bloodstained hands
have saved a generation from neglect and hate
So, no, no God will have us now
No, no Good could want us now

He fell asleep and dreamed of trophies, feasts,
a wife to love,
and all pomp befitting a hero's welcome.
A perfect plan. A helping hand.
And yet...
You deal in filth and see what you've become.
So no, no God will have you now.
No one will have you now.
